hello Takashi san,
do you know how I can update the information listed on the DX maps site?  I had 6 contacts to JA from my station at VK8ZLX (grid PG66WH Alice Springs) in 1989

Well it looks like the Perth VK6RPH 144.460MHz Beacon frequency is being monitored in JA.

The Beacon operates on a 24hr basis on CW, JT65C and JT4F but only in the TX mode.

Hi!

pse remember BY and BV stations use 144.460 FT8 too.

It's on again. 2mtrs open to JA when TEP distorts 6mtr FT8 signals. But you have to wait for the path to form and support FT8 on 2mtrs.
I don't have an exact time frame to quote but there is definitely a waiting period before we see the JA's on 2mtrs and can decode them.
FT8 works fine on this band, it just comes down to timing.

You have to wait until after the sun sets on the base of the ionosphere's F-layer at the geomagnetic equator on the mid-point of the JA-VK path.

Q65 from the WSJT suite is better equipped to handle the propagation properties of night-time TEP. Don't forget SSB, either!

Don't stick to 2m, give 70cm a crack, too. Skeds would be better than random.

The waiting period is well into the night, hence variations. But appears to coincide with the level of disruption to 6mtr FT8 sigs.

SSB works well and i have been doing it.

I plan on moving to 70cm when i have antennas in place. This is on hold due to wet season.

Not sure if the JA's are willing to move to Q65 as they also work BV and BD around the same times.

cheers

Hi Gary

With the success your having with FT8 & SSB seems little point in moving to Q65 and all the variants associated with it.

Cheers Brian
