Jon - The Class License is a totally different statutory type of radio License, to quote the ACMA "It is meant for users who are unaware of their spectrum usage". The benefits are that you do not have to pay annual License fees, but you will loose a lot of other privileges like certified issued Licenses which will cause many other problems, removal of call sings from the ACMA's RRL database, no protection against RFI issues, possible Equipment Type certification issues, call sign management shoved off to third parties, international License equivalency issues and having to meet strict ARPANSA EME requirements. Theses are only some of the issues that will affect us moving to a Class License, please read the WIA's very extensive and well written draft response for more information.
