The WIA AGM in 2024 will be held in Bundy BUT (although it's still 6-odd months away) some of us will need to forward plan a trip if we wish to attend.   Accommodation bookings may be scarce so early arrangements could be useful to many, and we can't do that without details.

The Bundy radio club have some exciting news to share!!
Our club has been selected to host the annual National WIA Convention / AGM in May 2024 up here in Bundaberg!
The event promises to be an amazing weekend full of interesting activities for kids of all ages.
We will hold our "HamFest 2.0" which will be 10 times the size of the one we held in April this year!
Icom Australia will be there and many others to be confirmed- We will take the opportunity to have another Open Day / Show and Tell showcasing our hobby and our club to the local community and visitors.
The weekend will include a keynote speaker and open Forum as well as a formal dinner and WIA AGM.. 
More details to follow!

So, where is the AGM going to be held in Bundy ?  Where will the dinner be held ?  Expected costs ?

If you want to attend the Hamfest/Expo entry is $10 and that gives you access to all the talks by guest speakers over the weekend.  (you can pay at the door!) 

It is really shaping up to be an amazing weekend and our club looks forward to welcoming you to Bundaberg on 4th/5th May!

WIA AGM to be held at BUNDABERG CONVENTION

The Bundaberg Convention is happening in Bundaberg on 4th and 5th May 2024 and we would love it if you could attend!

This is by far the #1 event in the calendar year for Amateur Radio in Australia! Its being held at the new State-of-the-Art Multiplex convention center and it promises to be an amazing weekend - full of interesting activities!

The Bundaberg Convention will include the 2024 WIA
Annual General Meeting as well as a viriety of Interesting discussions about the future of Amateur radio in Australia

The results of the WIA elections will be announced as well as the annual WIA merit awards.

The annual WIA Gala Dinner will be held on Saturday May the 4th being International Star Wars Day where you can enjoy a tasty buffet meal and take some time to meet with other amateurs from all over Australia and internationally.

Guest Speakers:

There will be two days of interesting talks about the many different aspects of the Amateur Radio service.

A commercial EXPO over the weekend where you can discover cutting-edge offerings from industry-leading companies with great equipment for sale and lots of Show Specials.

Bundaberg Hamfest 2.0 is where attendees can Buy and sell new and used radio and electronic equipment.

BARC Open Day is an opportunity to immerse yourself with hands-on demonstrations featuring
state-of-the-art radio equipment such as computer controlled satellite tracking systems and software as well as vintage radio equipment on display.

We have also scheduled a contact with the International Space Station!: Communications with an astronaut on the ISS, involving students from the Bundaberg State High School.

We will have Soldering Workshops for the kids with interesting kits the youngsters can build and take home! Lots of great giveaways and raffle prizes over the weekend.

If your planning to attend, make sure you book your accommodation soon.

Bundaberg is an RV-Friendly Town and there are plenty of camping areas available if you are coming with your motorhome or caravan.

If you are flying into Bundaberg, mini bus shuttles will meet you at the airport and take you to your accommodation and to and from the venue over the weekend.

Friday 3rd May

9:40AM, 12:15PM, 3:00PM -  Shuttle bus will meet incoming arrivals at Hinkler Airport and take delegates to accommodation.*

6:00PM Official Opening of the WIA Convention at Sugarland Tavern.

Saturday 4th May

6:00AM Begin setup tables / displays for the Commercial Expo and Hamfest at the Multiplex.

9:00AM Expo/Hamfest opens to the public.

9:40AM, 12:15PM, 3:00PM - Shuttle bus will meet incoming arrivals at Hinkler Airport and take delegates to accommodation.*

10:00AM 1:00PM Guest speakers doing presentations (see timetable for speakers)

4:00PM Expo/Hamfest closes to the public.

5:00PM Pre-dinner Social/Networking

6:00PM WIA Gala Dinner

7:30PM (TBC) Contact with the International Space Station.

8:00PM Shuttle bus takes delegates back to accommodation.

Sunday 5th May.

7:00AM Breakfast at the River Cruise Café.

9:00AM Expo/Hamfest opens to the Public.

9:00AM  - 11:00AM Guest speakers doing presentations (see timetable for speakers)

10:00AM 12:00PM WIA AGM / Open Forum.

1:00PM Expo/Hamfest closes to the Public

1:00PM 4:00PM pack up of displays by exhibitors at the Expo/Hamfest.

Monday 6th May.

6:00AM onwards Shuttle Bus to take delegates from accommodation to Hinkler Airport

*(Note: WIA members and delegate’s flights will be met at Hinkler Airport by a shuttle bus and taken to and from their accommodation and venues over the weekend.)
