Where the new mode works for 15 second transmissions, but the decode limit is around -20dB though.

The Freq for FT8 in 6M band in the program is 50.313, we have our 50 meg beacon on 50.315, why didn't they select 50.274 or similar for FT8 ?

Hello Leigh,
you have to take into account that the faster the mode the less averaging that can be done to dig into the noise. To the other extent there is a version of WSPR-15 that runs for 15 minutes per TX/RX that can dig deeper ( -37 db) but hey who wants to have their TX running for 15 minutes at a time?
On all modes there are trade off's we need to be aware of.

I have WSJTX 1.8.0-rc2 and MSHV 1.42 running here (Linux), the radio an FT-450
and 6m 4el beam at Emu Plains just 40m ASL.
Meteor Scatter on Saturday and Sunday mornings 6am to 8am.
See VKLOGGER at that time.
