Sunday October 23rd will see the next 23-on-23 MAD for 2016.

I'm getting in early so hopefully a more few stations will be able to plan their /P operations well ahead of time. And with this weekend's Winter VHF/UHF Field Day potentially a wash out, it may provide an opportunity to reduce the $/QSO rate of the uWave gear Idea Idea

It's now become common practice, that where the 23rd falls on a weekend the events operating time are shifted from the evening to a day-time activation event. This has also allowed operators to take full advantage of the time, and head for the hills to trial their /P stations, investigate new paths and hopefully complete a contact with a new station (or more) that they wouldn't normally from their home station. It also provides an opportunity to activate other uWave bands. :o

A suggested schedule:
2:00pm (04:00z) - 03:00pm (05:00z) 23cm SSB/CW only
3:00pm (05:00z) - 5:00pm (07:00z) 13cm and other uWave bands

Liaison -
147.000 Repeater (if the RDRC would again be happy with that)
40m - 7.150MHz (is that still the recommended QRG?)
Mobile/cell phone
VKLogger iChat '23&Above'

As a number of 23cm Plus operators do not participate in the OzLogger forum, please let those who may be interested know by taking a moment to share the plans with them. Idea

However to allow others to plan their participation, could you please advise your interest, availability and any suggested enhancements to the schedule in this thread? :!:

well I will be in on this one. I'm looking at a different site as Howells Knob has already been taken. I'm happy with the 2PM start but would like to make a suggestion that being a Sunday that we move the time forward a little bit as most of us are workers and for any one who is travelling a few miles to activate a site will need time to get home and unload etc. So I was more looking at maybe a 10am start or even 11am start to give us a bit more time to play and still have time to get home and do what we need to do before the start of the working week.

Looking forward to the day and having some fun.

Greetings to all.
Count me 'in', weather permitting, of course!
I am presently proposing to go to the Border Ranges National Park in Northern VK2 (QG61NP) and I would reckon on arriving there well before 3:00 p.m.
These Sunday "23 on 23" occasions don't happen all that frequently - so it'll be good to make the most of it!
Depending on takers, I would propose to be taking all bands from 1296 MHz to 47 GHz inclusive, and to have 2m and 70 cm FM, plus 7150 available for liaison contacts.
Here's hoping for good weather and good microwave propagation on the day!

Well here we are 2 and a half weeks out from the next 23 on 23 plus MAD and still very little discussion on an official start time or who is joining in and going where.
I'm still heading for McCarthy Lookout QG63KF and will be working the VK4WIS call sign on 1296, 2.4, 3.4, 5.7 and 10Ghz.
I would still prefer the 10am start to give us plenty of time to play and allow time for any weather changes that may effect the higher uWave bands and for those looking for personal distance records.

10am start with 1296 for the first hour and then 11am onwards is anything go's on the higher bands.
liaison as usual on the local repeaters, 40M HF or mobile phone if available and VK Logger chat.

Looking forward to the day.

Sorry I can't make it, will be in HK

Cheers

I'm still in!

I have been searching for a /P site in the SW corner of the Scenic Rim, but few offer terrain profile back to the coast that isn't significantly compromised... and will continue search, but not for this activation event.

At this stage I plan to return to Kamuran Lookout, with 1.2, 2.4, 3.399 & 10GHz.

Hi Scott

2PM sounds good to the group going to Howells, look forward to working you on all bands, even 2MAX is going portable.

Operating times will depend on the cooks doing the burgers !!!!!

Rex
PM AFTERNOON suits me
thanks
Len
Sorry guys, I can't make this one either portable or from home. This part of the year just seems to be too full of family commitments, maybe around Feb/March might be better.

I am looking forward to the Spring VHF/UHF FD in November as I 'pre-booked' that date very early.

It seems like the late afternoon start suits everyone so 2pm start will be fine with me. Just hope we don't get any afternoon rain or storms to stuff things up which is part of the reason I preferred the early start. McCarthy lookout (QG63KF) is fully undercover so rain hail or shine I will be out of the weather. I'm borrowing a bigger 25el loop Yagi for 23cm this time to see if it makes any real difference to my 18El portable antenna over greater distances so hopefully VK2MAX will be heard and worked this time.

Will be available on 23 & 13 cm from home & looking forward to the afternoon.

So 23 on 23 plus is next weekend

Full microwave activity day next Sunday

VK4IIO and VK4UH will be heading out to sea in Morton Bay carrying microwave gear and fishing rods

Probably taking 10 and 2.4GHz only this trip and 2m liaison

Exact mooring position and times will depend on wind and tide but hoping for a spot where there will be clear paths to all the stations we know about.

Something different to try - QSB likely

This time we plan to take 10 and 2.4 GHz and 2m Liasion and operating from the rear deck of their boat.

Watch out for the inevitable QSB!

My plans remain in tact.... but may change on Sunday morning if current WX forecast comes to fruition.

Will notify here and on the VHF UHF Microwave FB page.

Not looking to good now Scott. BoM have upped the predicted amount of rain the the possibility.

[attachment=23]
WX forecast improving but not clear... rain due this afternoon and continuing tomorrow. Will make the call in the morning before embarking late morning for the 2.5hr drive to be on site for a 2pm start.
GD all,

Flight to HK on Fri was cancelled.......so may get out to Gormans gap, 3cm gear.......weather dependant.

Greetings to all.
In addition to weather uncertainties, my plans have been blown out of the water by an international visitor who was going to arrive this evening, now arriving around 11:00 a.m. tomorrow (Sunday) due to a bad plane connection in the Middle-East.
So I will not now be going to the Border ranges NP, but I hope, if the weather is good in the afternoon, to be playing some local microwaves around Brisbane somewhere, possibly just Mt Gravatt.
These things happen.....
