The world's longest-reigning monarch, from 1946, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, HS1A, passed away at Siriraj Hospital on Thursday, 13 October 2016.

He was born on 5 December 1927 in Cambridge, Massachusetts USA, and ascended to the Thai throne on 9 June 1946.

He received his advanced class amateur licence in 1989. Five years later, he became the Patron of the Radio Amateur Society of Thailand (RAST).
