VKLink Repeater Linking Project
#1
Hi All,
I've opened this thread up to discuss, support and encourage toward the VKLink Repeater project.

Currently as I type this we have 29 nodes operational, including three on six metres. Why not build one yourself? All you need is a Raspberry Pi, a radio and a USB soundcard to start.

We'd love to see some nodes in VK4 and VK5 especially. Many would have seen my article "Building a Simulcasting & Voting Repeater System using VKLink" in the most recent edition of AR. However I'll also post that article here for some to read.

Monday night's we have been running a TechNet with connected nodes around VK. Why not join in?

I went to the your first link and got the home page fine, but when going to Information and VK3SMB Projects page, I get a page of unclickable links, so no information is available (all pages under the Information tab the same).

There is a brief flash of a page saying something about access, but doesn't stay up long enough to read.

Hi Terry,
Can't comment on VK3SMB's page.

However Information related to VKLink can be read in the manual here -
http://vklink.com.au/manual.php

Image can be downloaded here -

Hrmm... If that link works for you then I have a problem this end, I'll try a couple of different browsers and see what happens (currently using Firefox).

Edit - Firefox is the problem.

Thanks Hayden

When time permits, I'll have a look at:
http://dmlinking.net/
As repeaters for HF, in particular Codec2 is my focus now.
"Digital" solves two repeater requirements:
1) Is the signal valid? ............................... presence of sync and valid data
2) does the signal want to be repeated? .... destination in the data

Does strawberry Pi work OK? Raspberries don't grow very well up here in the tropics! Tongue Big Grin

Actually, the alternative is the Banana Pi : http://www.banana-pi.org/ or the Mango Pi : https://www.fabtolab.com/mango-pi-PIC-microcontroller

They are probably more suited to the balmy tropics, particularly for those in FNQ.  Tongue

My quick Google search on reveals results for Strawberry Pi(e) : https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/easy...berry-pie/

Yes, I'm a Banana Pi fanatic because it has a SATA port.

BTW: Aren't there more bananas grown in Northern NSW?

"Bananian" on the Banana Pi M2 Berry is a hoot. Quad code. 1Gb ram, 4x USB ports, 1Gb ethernet.
and a 500Gb laptop disk.

Hayden, repeater linking, can I take a feed to here, convert to Codec2 mode 700D and transmit it?

Hi Alan,
Sorry I'm not sure to what you are referring.

The VKLink project is built on Asterisk. Anything you can do in Asterisk you can do on VKLink, theoretically as far as I understand.
