The Beacon operates on a 24hr basis on CW, JT65C and JT4F but only in the TX mode. 73 Igor RE: FT8 and Q65 to JA during TEP on 2m - JR4ENY/1 - 23-01-2024 Hi! pse remember BY and BV stations use 144.460 FT8 too. But you have to wait for the path to form and support FT8 on 2mtrs. I don't have an exact time frame to quote but there is definitely a waiting period before we see the JA's on 2mtrs and can decode them. FT8 works fine on this band, it just comes down to timing. Q65 from the WSJT suite is better equipped to handle the propagation properties of night-time TEP. Don't forget SSB, either! Don't stick to 2m, give 70cm a crack, too. Skeds would be better than random. The waiting period is well into the night, hence variations. But appears to coincide with the level of disruption to 6mtr FT8 sigs. SSB works well and i have been doing it. I plan on moving to 70cm when i have antennas in place. This is on hold due to wet season. Not sure if the JA's are willing to move to Q65 as they also work BV and BD around the same times. cheers VK8AW RE: FT8 and Q65 to JA during TEP on 2m - VK5BC - 15-02-2024 Hi Gary With the success your having with FT8 & SSB seems little point in moving to Q65 and all the variants associated with it.
