Mystery Antenna - VK3LU - 17-01-2017 On my frequent travels along Plenty Rd, north of Melbourne, I have noticed an antenna which can be seen just north of McDonald Rd on the western side. It appears to have a braced structure on top. Looking at Google maps satellite view, it is located in the northeast corner of a block containg four large tanks. On close inspection of the image, the top structure looks like two small loop skywires, or perhaps it is top loading. Or perhaps it's a very tall Hills Hoist hock: hock: Any ideas? 73 Nev PS Another reason for this post is to keep the forum ticking over. It's a bit moribund at the moment, unfortunately. Re: Mystery Antenna - VK3ALB - 17-01-2017 Looks like some kind of MW antenna. Probably this site. Re: Mystery Antenna - VK3LU - 17-01-2017 That's it Lou. Must have a listen. Nev Re: Mystery Antenna - VK3ALB - 17-01-2017 Hi Nev, Unlikely you'll understand any of it as it's a foreign language broadcast but it might give you some good ideas for a 160m antenna. For 400W it's certainly a cracking signal into Geelong. Re: Mystery Antenna - VK3LU - 17-01-2017 I see the antenna is a "linear vertical" and given that it is in the corner of the block I wonder what sort of earth system it uses. Probably whatever fits.
