Advice on virtual comports - VK3ALB - 16-02-2017

Hi All,

I have a radio with one USB/Serial port and I want to use a logging program and SDR program at the same time through this single port. The radio already works with the PC but I understand I need some kind of com port splitter software to make multiple virtual ports from the one physical port.

I'm sure this is not new to some of you and I wonder what is out there.

Lou

Although it refers to using VKCL, have a look at the way I used (free) VSPE software for multiple COM port emulation at my web page at http://www.vk4adc.com/web/index.php/software-projects/53-fd-software/105-vkcl-and-multiple-icoms

Thanks Doug,

I've found VSPE which has one annoying problem - it needs a license if run on a 64bit OS (free on 32bit) otherwise very neat and simple to use. I haven't been able to find a way to force it to run 32bit mode. It's almost an anti climax when you get the port splitter going because it's so easy to set up.

I wonder if anyone else has found other equally useful packages.
