John Martin VK3KM SK - VK2ZRH/4 - 31-07-2022 A stalwart of the WIA, John passed away on Saturday 22 July 2022. He was known to many chiefly through his volunteer work heading the various iterations of the WIA’s Technical Advisory Committee, a role in which he served since the early 1970s. John was first licensed in 1967, when he gained his Amateur Operators Limited Certificate of Proficiency (AOLCP) and the callsign VK3ZJC. In 1993, following a change to the amateur licensing system in 1992, John gained a “combined licence”, having succeeded in passing the Novice exam, and took to the bands with VK3KWA. In 2005, John took the opportunity to get a two-letter suffix callsign and took up VK3KM. |
