Two Foundaton license questions - SWL-VK001 - 13-03-2017 Hi All - I'm new to the forum, and a have been an active SWL for some time. I have two licensing related queries: I am interested in trying to obtain my Foundation license. My primary interest is in modes such as RTTY, PSK and JT65. I read that the Foundation license only permits AM, SSB and CW emission modes. As most of these models use SSB, are they permitted under the Foundation license? Secondly, I am currently on assignment in India, but will return to Australia after a year or two, so I would prefer to get an Australian license and use it as a guest in India. Would this be possible? Thanks Re: Two Foundaton license questions - VK3ALB - 13-03-2017 Hi Rack, Under the current regulations a foundation operator is only permitted to transmit hand sent CW (straight key) and speak into a microphone using AM, FM or SSB modes. They are not permitted to send computer generated transmissions. I don't believe foundation licensees can apply for reciprocal licenses in other countries. Right now, if you want to do both of those things you should consider a standard or advanced license.
