Re: BARCFEST 3rd June 2017 - VK4ADC - 04-06-2017

Well BARCFEST 2017 is over and done.

Bushcomm (antennas), Altronics (electronic parts and acessories) and SYNCHRO Australia ( mainly CB oriented) were the only business tables present, with the Australian HF Touring Club also there handing out info paperwork and discussing their HF network with interested persons.

There were quite a few amateurs present at this changed venue so the word must have gotten out and about, although their lack of proper advertising needs to be addressed. The venue was at the Rochedale Scout Den, and while it had enough room for parking, it didn't seem overly well organised. Next year should be better as they will have seen at least some of the limitations that happened at this weekend's event.

I picked up an M80-1 ( 80M ) Mobile One helical whip to complete my set of HF mobile helicals at a good price but there wasn't a lot there otherwise that was a lot on interest to me. I bought only two other items: Isopropyl Alcohol from Altronics ($7.95) and a 19V laptop power adapter for $5.

PS I tested the M80-1 on the car after I arrived home but it was up around 3660 as was set. I had to replace the adjustable tip with a slightly longer piece but left it alone once it was set at 3605 KHz. So it works....
