Southgate ARC SPAM - VK3HZ - 21-08-2017
Why is the Forum being filled with postings from the Southgate ARC? I'm tired of filtering through them in the "View New Posts" area.
If people are interested in the Southgate ARC, they could see all these posts on the Southgate ARC web site, where they belong!

No doubt admin is trying to keep the site moving. Whilst this doesn't help your immediate concern I much prefer to use a custom link in my browser to search for unread posts which to my mind is a much better filter than new posts..

I scan the headings for posts of interest and read them. Once done I mark the remainder of the posts read.

I have turned off the RSS feed, at least for now. I added it because "normal" users simply were not making comments, creating new threads or posts etc and at least it was providing more info about what was happening both in VK plus the remainder of the AR world. There has been some positive reaction to the feed based on the number of visits recorded against each topic so it is not all 'bad news'.
I have been trying to find an alternate method of showing (eg) the Southgate feed on the RHS below the Latest Posts box - but in its own box, and not actually being recorded as "posts". The way the MYBB software is constructed limits the options and I have tried doing changes at times when user access is low but then revert it back when it doesn't work as desired. I get close but no cigar as yet.
The RSS options will be revisited when I have more free time to play and then probably not on the live AHRDF site. Only the final outcome will appear here.
