VKCL Version 4.4.0 - VK4ADC - 13-01-2018 VKCL Version 4.4.0
30th December 2017
To align VKCL with the latest rules published for the 2018 Summer VHF-UHF Field Day, bonus points for contacts made by portable stations and/or with portable stations have been removed. Submitted logs created by previous versions of VKCL will be re-calculated omitting portable bonus points. The rules for the contest are here on WIA web site.
However that should not change logging procedures. It is an ACMA requirement that if you are operating away from your registered address for your license, then you should sign as a portable station, and for good logging practice, portable stations should be logged as portable. A /P is sufficient if the portable station is within their home State, but if visiting another State, the prefix of that state should be used, for example, /VK2 for a non-VK2 station visiting NSW. A /2 is ignored and /P2 puts the portable station in Papua-New Guinea. (These portable logging rules apply in all contests supported by VKCL, with State replaced by call sign area as appropriate.)
As promised in the Log Check Reports for those who participated in the Spring field day, penalties will be applied for logging time stamps that differ by more than 5 minutes. Up to and including 10 minutes, half the points will be lost, and total loss for greater than 10 minutes for the station at fault. In most cases the station at fault can be determined, but if not, then no penalty will be applied this time. Also the penalty for incorrect worked locator will increase from 10% to 25%. Check your logs!
Note the upload log facility available for the VHF-UHF field day, described below. VKCL can now directly upload your log(s) to the WIA web site without you having to find the log files on your computer.
After creating a log and returning to the Contest Log Output dialog window, a large button on bottom left appears labeled Upload Existing Log. Pressing that button opens the following upload dialog; After entering a description of the log being uploaded, press the UPLOAD button to perform the upload. More information is available in the help files. Please use this facility, and if you do not care about the results, just describe your log as a 'Check Log' . It will help in cross-checking other logs and give the contest manager a better overview of what happened during the field day. (Add "No report" if you do not wish to receive a Log Check Report either.) There is also an error in calculating the points in the Ross Hull Memorial contest if more than one locator is activated. This contests runs throughout January 2018, and if you did activate more than locator, download this version to create your final log to claim correct points.
Always check for updates for any contest close to the contest date. |
