Shipping costs - VK3ALB - 19-01-2018

I wonder about the cost of shipping when RS components can deliver for free (no minimum order value). I've ordered a number of unusual parts some of which have a 5 to 14 day delivery. I don't mind the wait but so far I've had four different couriers deliver over 3 days and there is more to come. All this for around $25 of parts.

There are more to come in the next week. Amazing.

Yet it costs $18 to send a 55 gm package to the UK just because it is over 20mm thick.

I've ordered $2 worth of parts from RS and got free delivery and often wondered how that make money at that rate.

In some instances it is cheaper to pay the higher prices they charge than buy the parts elsewhere at a cheaper price and have to pay shipping on top.
