2018 RD Contest - VK4ADC - 12-08-2018

The RD Contest is on this weekend and I have already done my operating time.  I used VKCL 4.60 as the latest version, exported the Cabrillo log and then tried to upload via the link in the RD rules. Reject.

After you do the cabrillo export from VKCL, you need to add the following up near the top of xxxx.LOG (your callsign.log) file :

CATEGORY-OPERATOR: SINGLE-OP
CATEGORY-STATION: FIXED
CATEGORY-POWER: HIGH
CATEGORY-MODE: SSB
CATEGORY-BAND: ALL

Vary these entries to suit your operation - the list of optional settings is in http://www.wia.org.au/members/contests/rdcontest/documents/RDContestRules.pdf

Save the edited file.

The log upload link is

https://contester.azurewebsites.net.

Browse to xxxx.LOG in (eg) c:\VKCL4xx\Contests\2018\RD

Submit.

Accepted. Browser page updates to show your log details..

RE: 2018 RD Contest - VK4TS - 28-08-2018

Cabrillo format makes the log checking much more accurate.
In contesting you should lose points for any claimed QSOs that are not in the other log. So the score that you have from VKCL is rarely the same as a properly adjudicated contest.
Several contest managers do not log check and accept the logs claimed score as gospel, in fact one I can think of has over 100 perfect logs every year, year in year out. Imagine coming second to someone who has not copied correctly at all...
My spies tell me the RD results could be out as early as next week.

Trent

I claimed 102 points in this year's RD.  It will be interesting to see what the official results list shows.

My claimed score in several other annual contests is rarely the same as the final results but (in my case) it generally points to poor logging at the other end. Typically wrong time, wrong band, wrong grid details.. in their log but the penalty comes at my end.  The issue is usually paper logs being used, multi ops maybe not as proficient as they might be, who knows what else ?  A time-synced computer, VKCL software with rig control (and a single operator) has minimised most of these effects at my end  Big Grin

We can only do our best - and hope for better than their worst.

The 2018 RD Contest results are out...

Broad details are at http://www.wia.org.au/members/contests/rdcontest/
with the detailed results in this PDF :

http://www.wia.org.au/members/contests/rdcontest/documents/RemembranceDayContestReport2018forWebsite.pdf

Re my previous post : 102 points claimed, 101 points ratified - so I lost one point somewhere. My end ? The other end ? Don't know and might never know...

BUT when I searched for my callsign in the State winners PDF  ( http://www.wia.org.au/members/contests/rdcontest/documents/RD2018StateWinnerCertificates.pdf ), there is one there for me, 43rd overall but First in VK4 for Single Operator Phone
