Yaesu FT-857D display - VK4RW - 27-12-2018 Greetings There has been much discussion in the Hamdon about the display in the FT-857D, and the 'zebra line effect'. Some have claimed to have a fix, with reasonable/mediocre results. the only real fix is to replace the display. To all the faint hearted out there who say "it is too complicated, and I couldn't do it", take heart I have done it and so can you. The only equipment required is a replacement display from Yaesu (this is the part that hurts), 2 screwdrivers and your soldering iron to unsolder and resolder 4 pins. There are 2 connectors to disconnect, remove the display board, unsolder the volume/rf gain pins, drop in the new board, resolder the pins, reconnect the previous 2 connectors. Job done. Enjoy your 'new' FT-857 without squinting. Posted in the interest of allaying any fears. 73 Ron VK4BVI |
