The Australian Maritime College have released a document specifying the process of engagement for new Assessors :

Of interest to some might be the section titled :
"Fast Track Process
In order to increase the numbers of qualified assessors there will be a fast track process implemented for a limited period until 31 December 2019. This is designed to allow people who were formerly Learning Facilitators and experienced operators to become assessors without the supervisory period."
