My 'daily drive' (when I get around to using it) has now got an FT1802M 50W 2M transceiver plus an IC-706Mk2G for HF/6M with LDGZ100 ATU installed - with the 706 head remote mounted just above the centre console. There is also a 40CH UHF CB under the passenger seat and remote head again in the centre console area (never turned on except when we are travelling).

The mobile antennas are a bit mish-mash at the moment with a 2M quarterwave on one side at the front and the other side either a UHF CB whip or a HF whip with or without a variable base loading coil. The other HF whip option is a 45mm RHS L-bracket at the back that sides into 50mm RHS tube and that tube is mounted back to the bumper mounts. I put some extra holes in the vertical face of the L-bracket so that I can mount my 7M long squid pole (wire up the middle) as an alternative when operating portable.

That squid pole can also be mounted on the A-shaped drawer bar of the caravan when we are away, and then I use my IC-7000 plus a different LDG ATU from within the van itself.

Field days sees both radios removed and placed into my pre-wired transit frame. more details on my website at www.vk4adc.com in the Field Day reports.

One of my favourites - a Codan 2110. The spare handset I picked up on epay, largely because of the sticker it had Smile

Never know who's listening on 40m .....
