Microwave Activity Day (MAD) Sunday 23rd September
#1
Greetings to all readers!

This coming Sunday is the 23rd of the month so the usual evening "23 on 23" activity is transposed into a daytime microwave activity day.

For about four hours from around 12:00 noon, there should be several stations around greater South-East Queensland operating from various locations on various microwave bands.  1296 MHz is a starting band, with use of 2403 MHz, 3398 MHz, 5760 MHz, 10.3 GHz, 24 GHz and possibly some higher frequencies during the afternoon.

"Talk back" is most helpful for setting up contacts and organisational liaison and on this occasion the focus of activity will be on the Redcliffe and District Radio Club's 147.00 MHz FM repeater on Mt Glorious.  Some folk alternatively will use iChat via the on-line VK-Logger, and the 'spotting' facility that is also on the Logger.  Personally I will also have 439 MHz FM simplex available for 'talk back'.

The weather for Sunday is looking rather good at this stage, so it should be a great afternoon!  So even if you only have 1296 MHz, get on air and enjoy what amateur radio is all about - having enjoyable radio contacts!  You may even become inspired to go further!

Cheers and 73,

--Doug Friend, VK4OE.

p.s.  I plan to be active from North Stradbroke Island with all microwave bands from 1296 MHz to 76 GHz inclusive.

While I might like to participate in this one, I still haven't fixed my microwave IF transceiver.
I suspect that possibly it is terminal so until such time as I do finally fix or replace it, my microwave activities are kaput.

It is a good idea to circulate that such events are occurring on this forum but a little bit more notice would probably be better for those interested.
I will probably be in the shack putting SMD parts on my latest project PCBs  on Sunday so could have been available for MAD under other circumstances.
