Just above the rear panel diagram...

"Packet operation is easily accomplished on the FTDX5000 by connecting your TNC (Terminal Node Controller) to the transceiver, as in the illustration. "Packet" operation also applies to SSB-based AFSK data modes, such as PSK31, etc."

Note also details mentioning the FTDX5000 on http://www.tigertronics.com/sl_wirebm.htm ....  
**On the FT-847, FT-920, FT-950, FT-1000MP, FT-DX1200, and FT-DX5000 you should also jumper Pin #5 to Ground.


I guess that it's the packet port that you will need to connect to..
