2020 Gold Coast Hamfest
#4
I went along to the Hamfest, different venue, easier parking than at the 'usual' Waterways Complex at Broadbeach, and seemed easier to get to (less traffic). Plenty of junk plus quite a few second-hand amateur transceivers, antennas and the like.  The only commercial presence was QSL Comms ( https://qslcomms.com.au/ )  who seemed to always have people there buying and in talks.  There was the typical food and drink available as needed.   I also caught up with others who I seem to see just annually - at this Hamfest - and that was great, although the numbers of familiar faces seems to be dropping as the local ham population ages and some are no longer with us..

This was a less-confined environment and people could move out under the trees to catch up while still being COVID aware.  I can't help thinking that if GCARS stay here in subsequent years, there could be an option for activities like pedestrian fox hunts or VHF scrambles for those who aren't just looking to sell or buy.

Good event guys.
