It might be interesting to see these values presented in a different way? In my head I see some kind of Cartesian coordinates where X is time and 0 is mid day UTC and Y is signal strength where 0 could potentially be the threshold where a voice contact might be possible. Color of course could indicate a path between the two specific stations. It might get a bit messy during a massive opening but at that point a chart is no longer necessary as we already know there is an opening.
I'm not that flash with Excel but I'm sure there are smart people out there that write formula for Excel all the time. It might be a simple matter to drop your raw logs (I know you do some filtering) onto the sheet to end up with a chart. After a while I think this visual indication could become as easy to understand as say the Hepburn charts.
I don't think it needs show distances as that is already covered by plenty of web sites.
