144 MHz Sporadic E path detected this afternoon from SE VK4 to northern VK7. Max distance 1641 km. Well done guys.
See attached maps and data. One of the maps is a 6m map showing all the short paths along this path about 30 mins before hand, it was a fairly safe bet that something could happen from SE QLD to Tasmania, its just a matter of having the people in the right places at the right time. Its possible that some in Gippsland could have had some luck too, but no one on the map.
Myself and some others had also been hearing FM Broadcast signals to SE QLD. Around the time of this 2m path I heard a station on 88.9 FM from the Lismore NSW area, so quite short at 929 km.
If there were a few more stations slightly further north from the SE QLD stations im sure we would see more paths show up.
