Dateline - 11 July 2023: An ARRL news release outlines the move by US "commercial interests" seeking HF spectrum allocations to establish data communications on multiple bands across 2 – 25 MHz running up to 20 kW.
An
ad hoc group called the “Shortwave Modernization Coalition” has petitioned the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for "Rulemaking to Amend the Commission’s Rules to Allow Fixed, Long-Distance, Non-Voice Communications" in the HF spectrum, running high power.
The ARRL said this group appears to represent high-speed stock trading interests.
The allocations requested include bands immediately adjacent to (American) HF amateur bands.
