WSJT-X Builds
#1
Hi,
the list of modes in WSJT-X is changing, the JTMSK mode has been dropped in favour of a new mode called MSK144. A new mode called QRA64 has been added. The latest official builds on the K1JT site do not have the new modes but if you are chasing one that has, I have a sample RC1 build hosted at http://vk5pj.com/wsjtx

That URL should give you a web page that is a listing of the directory contents, select the file named: wsjtx-1.7.0.RC1.zip and it will download to your PC. I must warn you there is NO installer wrapping for the files, you need to extract them to a location where you want them to live, then create a shortcut to the WSJTX.EXE

As per normal for these programs, do NOT place them in the "Program Files" folder as that folder will prohibit you from saving your settings.

Now, the last part, these builds are not 100% tested and are presented AS-IS, I take no responsibility for their operation or use, K1JT has actively discouraged the wide spread public access to experimental builds, so the files in that folder may change or be deleted at any point in time - current as of 15 Oct 2016

Good luck,
Peter, vk5pj

hi Peter, I downloaded WSJTX 1.70 a few weeks ago and it appears to be very stable and a couple of Db more sensitive when decoding JT65A.Apparently there are some changes in how it decodes.Havent tried the new modes as yet

X2.
The best decode on WSPR was 29db! It also decodes faster too.
WSPR2 never did that.
I like the new dashboard too.

Has anybody tried MSHV?
WSJT-X
Also, for the EME boys, where is JT65C?

I run 24x7 an AMD Kabini low power system to keep the power bill down.
272 days since last reboot!! (Linux of course)

New mode FT8 in WSJT-X, 1.8.x disabled in MSHV Ver 1.49

FT8 in MSHV is however easily enabled by changing false to true
on line 469 in file src/main_ms.cpp

For those of you who don't often check for upgrades of software packages, just a quick note to advise that V1.9.1 of K1JT's  WSJT-X is available for download:

https://physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/k1jt/wsjtx.html

WSJT-X implements communication protocols or "modes" called FT8, JT4JT9JT65QRA64ISCATMSK144, and WSPR, as well as one called Echo for detecting and measuring your own radio signals reflected from the Moon.  These modes were all designed for making reliable, confirmed QSOs under extreme weak-signal conditions.  All but ISCAT use nearly identical message structure and source encoding -- the efficient compression of standard messages used for minimal QSOs.  JT65 and QRA64were designed for EME ("moonbounce") on the VHF/UHF bands; JT65 has also proved popular and effective for worldwide QRP communication at HF.  JT9 is optimized for the LF, MF, and HF bands.  It  is about 2 dB more sensitive than JT65 while using less than 10% of the bandwidth.  With either JT9 or JT65world-wide QSOs are possible with power levels of a few watts and compromise antennas.  JT4 and QRA64 are optimized for EME on the VHF and higher bands, and especially the microwave bands from 2.3 to 24 GHz.  FT8 is operationally similar to JT65 but is much faster, using T/R cycles only 15 s long. MSK144 is used for Meteor Scatter on the VHF bands. Finally, as described more fully on its own pageWSPR mode implements a protocol designed for probing potential propagation paths with low-power transmissions.  WSPR is now fully implemented within WSJT-X, including automatic band-hopping.

The current General Availability (GA)  release is WSJT-X Version 1.9.1.   A list of new features and enhancements since Version 1.8.0 is available here.  One of the new features is FT8 DXpedition Mode, and to use it you must upgrade to Version 1.9.1.
