Tropospheric Ducting Event hits NBN Fixed Wireless Services
The NBN fixed Wireless Services in Northern Tasmania, South and East coast of Victoria suffered from a tropospheric ducting event in recent days and it is being handled as a major incident.
The interference ranges from the north coast of Tasmania to the south and south east of Victoria and if you take a look at the Hepburn Charts for the recent period you will see some interesting activity.
These NBN services run on 2.3 and 3.4 GHz and can deliver up to a 50 Mbps service.
Justin VK7TW said the NBN media release labelled the event as “thermal ducting” and has the possibility of affecting approximately 30,000 to 40,000 users. The disruption can be in the form of speed degradation, voice clipping, or potentially a complete loss of service.
