Amateur Reciprocal Qualifications Review
#1
The Australian Communications and Media Authority has reset the qualification equivalency of the US Technician Licence for new applications to that of the entry level Australian Foundation Licence. The majority of submissions to the ACMA inquiry fully agreed that the Foundation Licence was the most appropriate for reciprocal licensing purposes. Before the review it was set at the highest Advance Licence.

I believe this review was rather useless.
There was no ability to make comment/requests regarding reciprocal conditions with countries other than USA.

The terms and scope of the review was set by the ACMA.

Did you miss the ACMA's consultation on the subsetting of its Radiocommunications (Qualified Operators) Determination 2005? Anyone with an interest was able to make a submission.

If you have continuing concerns about the Radiocommunications (Qualified Operators) Determination 2016 (which replaced the 2005 one), I suggest you contact the ACMA.

Yes, did see those but it seemed only to be interested in the Foundation licence and US Technician Class licence.

I wonder how many foreigners (hams) might be active in VK, None? One? Two on a big day perhaps!

It's amazing it took 'em that long to figure out the discrepancy between U.S. technician class and Australian Advanced class. Might as well have put amateur licenses in cornflake packets or just given everyone a license at the airport. Lol

I believe the ACMA had a bit of other work, possibly of higher priority, on its plate. Confusedhock:
