FT8 with Yaesu FTDx1500
#1
Just got a Yaesu FTDx1500.

Got it working OK with JT65 but cannot get it to work on FT8. Receives OK but will not transmit. Anybody tell me what boxes I need to tick during setup?   I have never tried this mode before. Is there an idiots setup video?  (Remember I am a computer-challenged semi-geriatric Confused

Hi Wayne,

You did not say what program you were using. If it is WSJT-X and you can TX with JT65 then there should be nothing to change besides the mode.

You can use the Tune button to test that you can indeed go into TX. If that works then look at the "Tx even/1st" box

If it's unchecked you TX on the 15 & 45 second marks
If it's checked you TX on the 0 & 30 second marks

Of course, the Enable Tx button should be on (red).

Hi Lou

Yes, got it sorted thank you. Very quick mode compared with JT65. No time to get a cup of coffee between overs!

Wayne,

Well, there is only ONE program that does FT8.

OR IS THERE?

On compiling from sauce, MSHV Ver 1.52 and enabling the FT8 mode,

HOWZAT

In the MSHV source-code Edit ./src/main_ms.cp
Line 469 rb_mode_ft8->setEnabled(true);//k1jt problem
Set "true", not "false".

It, MSHV now receives, now for a QSO.

========== UPDATE Ver 1.53 is out with FT8 enabled ========
