WSJT-X Log File Viewer software

THIS SOFTWARE HAS BEEN SUPERSEDED BY 'LOGVIEW FOR WSJTX'  AS PER THE DETAILS IN THIS TOPIC.

{Originally posted within another FT8 post but separated for better visibility }

Well I am still playing with FT8 at the moment but it was hard to tell which stations I had already worked. Once gone from screen, there is no immediate way to back-check.

I didn't want to keep working the same stations so set about creating a free Windows-based Log File Viewer utility for WSJT-X.

A bit more info plus a download link is at http://www.vk4adc.com/web/software-proje...log-viewer, but please note that it is early in development so may have some issues to be resolved as yet, more features to be added.

Please notify of any bugs found direct to doug at vk4adc dot com with subject 'WSJTXViewer Bug'.

The software development has been ongoing on this project.

A number of changes have made the operation smoother and quicker and it now has an ADIF export facility that works with LOTW's TQSL and imports into eQSL without problems.  There is an option that allows 'New only' so that new contacts since the last export are the only ones processed thus avoiding the dreaded "dupe" message on imports. Of course, full log exports are still available.  It also imports into HRD 5.x provided you have added the WSJT-X modes into HRD's emission mode list.

The callsign search and display area has had a lot of changes to make it a better tool overall.

My log shows up in the 350-odd contacts on FT8 now, mainly 14 /18 /21 MHz but some on 7 and 10) and that has helped me refine the features, watching it work while actually operating FT8 on HF.

The latest version is always available via the link down the page at http://www.vk4adc.com/web/software-proje...log-viewer

Around a month after its original release as V1.0.0.1.....

V1.0.0.8 has now been released (25 April 2018) and it has a lot of changes implemented internally. Externally, to the user, one of the most obvious changes has been the incorporation of country, continent, latitude, longtitude, approximate bearing and distance details in the search results.

The Viewer's integrated log file data structure also takes note of your callsign and grid locator for the QSO (as sourced directly from the WSJTX configuration) so you can maintain a continuous log even if you operate portable  (eg VK4ADC/3, AX4ADC  or even KH6/VK4ADC) or in a different grid square (eg QF22 instead of QG62). The ADIF export file contains these values too so that your station logbook software, LOTW or eQSL all have accurate call and location details included.

And it remains FREE.  The latest version is always available via the link down the page at http://www.vk4adc.com/web/software-proje...log-viewer

The above is what is my "What's on your workbench?"  response too   You can't develop software without testing it real-time.  Note what my FT8 contact count is as of today (Contacts in log in the above graphic)..
