Yaesu MD100A8X microphone
#1
I have a Yaesu MD100 desk microphone which has gone to pot. Sad

Measuring the impedance of the insert I come up with 1.050M Ohm.  According to my manual it should be about 500 ohm.  Probably explains why I am transmitting nothing.

Can anyone suggest a source for a replacement dynamic element to suit this microphone?

Oh, yes the switches on the bottom are all in the off position.

Take a photo of the current insert and add that to your next post, along with the external dimensions.  Are you sure that one of the wires isn't O/C instead.

Strictly Ham sells that model mic so may be able to source an insert.

Did have a look at the site in your reply, good information there.

All wiring intact all the way from the connector to the element.  Even when measuring the impedance at the connections on the element it is still way high.

Dimensions are 2.5cm diameter, 5 cm deep approximately.

This is now back on the air.

Yaesu America had 1 in stock, took nearly 2 weeks to arrive in the letterbox.

Once I worked out how to get the microphone apart, it only took 2 minutes with the soldering iron, and it is good as new.

The old insert was was measuring substantially more than the 500 ohm it should be.
